Project Engineer
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for developing and implementing optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. Recommend and implement improvements to processes, methods, and controls. Coordinate activities in the design, construction, modification, and maintenance of equipment and machinery in the Plant. The Engineering Manager reports to the Plant Manager.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead manufacturing improvement projects for key targets (improved rates, improved yields).
- Implement revised or new instrumentation on production equipment for automation or tracking.
- Provide local support for FMP (ERP) programing and revisions to meet manufacturing goals.
- Provide support for all systems that interact with FMP, such as production tracking, label printing, barcode tracking, etc.
- Development and management of Internet of Things (IOT) interfaces with manufacturing equipment.
- Implement improvements and updates to logic controllers (PLCs) used in manufacturing, specifically integration into IOT.
- Support startup of new manufacturing equipment.
- Provide help with new raw materials that require significantly different handling in manufacturing.
- Assist Manufacturing and Quality department with internal troubleshooting.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or Physics preferred
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in chemistry, physics, engineering, materials, polymer science and polymer processing
- Background in manufacturing operations, shop-floor experience, or demonstrated capability to work with shop-floor personnel with manufacturing equipment
- Capability to understand machine operation and provide direction to operators
- Experience with statistics, design of experiments, and analysis of variance
- Background in manufacturing operations, shop-floor experience, or demonstrated capability to work with shop-floor personnel with manufacturing equipment
- Capability to understand machine operation and provide directions to operators

- Plastics processing (such as injection molding, extrusion, thermoforming)
- Specific experience with chemical or polymer mixing, compounding, alloying, or blending
- Experience with laboratory equipment to measure properties of liquids or solids
- Hands-on laboratory experience in either in a product development, analytical services, physical testing,or quality control department
- Experience with standard test methods for materials (ASTM, ISO, and others)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines and work well under pressure
- Demonstrate professionalism and a positive attitude
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency in MS Office
